elaina_headshot-220x300For nearly fifteen years, Elaina has been a magazine editor in Washington, D.C. and is currently editor-in-chief of International Educator magazine. She also earned a master’s degree in English at George Mason University and has taught college English courses as an adjunct instructor at several higher education institutions in the national capital area. She has also taught ballet to children and continues to take ballet, jazz, and modern dance classes.

As an independent journalist, Elaina has written for numerous publications including Adjunct Advocate, American Careers, Dance Teacher, Dance Spirit, Hispanic Outlook on Higher Education, International Educator, Military Officer, Pointe, and U.S. News and World Report, among others.

Elaina’s first book, Creative Colleges: A Guide for Student Actors, Artists, Dancers, Musicians, and Writers, was published in fall 2005; the third edition was released in 2010. Creative Colleges earned recognition in the Washington PostCollege Bound magazine and U.S. News and World Report’s annual college rankings guide and on usnews.com. Creative Careers: A Guide for Aspiring Actors, Artists, Dancers, Musicians, and Writers, first published in 2007 and revised in 2009,is her second book.
